- Although written in 1890, Tagore’s Sacrifice, a drama in English based on the Bengali play, Bishorjon, is still relevant today. Among the many questions addressed are: “Does the state have the right to control religion?” and “Should blood sacrifice be tolerated in a modern society?” Masks and stylized costumes elevate the dynamic conflicts in this new and poetic translation of a 120-year-old work.
